Release of Sketchup 2013

Today Trimble released the latest version of Shetchup. They are still offering a free version, just re-branded as Sketchup Make.

These tools are strategically complimentary to Trimble Buildings, which promotes streamlined communication throughout the Design-Build-Operate (DBO) lifecycle of construction. Users can quickly design and visualize in 3D, import CAD plans, photos, aerial imagery, and then use SketchUp Pro’s documentation tools to develop communication and planning deliverables.

The overall goal is to enable collaboration between engineers, general contractors and building owners during the design process to drive design discussions and generate commercial deliverables (i.e. conceptual estimates, construction drawings, RFI’s and full-screen digital presentations).

New features to the professional version include an Extension Warehouse for add-on tools (also called plug-ins), and enhanced documentation capabilities, including improved vector drawing tools, faster rendering and zooming, and customizable hatching styles.
