Map in the Real World

Academics complain map making is too easy these days, the art of cartography is lost, and no one understands the theory and principles required to produce effective maps. Whether they are aesthetically abhorrent, or they wrongfully convey information, you know a bad map when you see one.

To complicate matters, the wild west of web map making is taking off, and many GIS Analysts with professional degrees lack the skills to get their good maps onto the web.

In due course, schools will reconcile this divide in instruction. Until then, the tutorials and dialogs on Web Map Academy works to bridge this divide.
